BARRY SHINE TROPHY

Recognising that the entries for the Dwyer Bowl (the League's Individual Snooker Championship) had progressively diminished over the past few years, (in part, it was thought, because of the ever improving standards of play exhibited by an elite group) in 1998 the views of the membership were sought on the feasibility of running a new, restricted entry knockout snooker competition.

Following a positive response, the new competition was inaugurated for which the then Chairman donated a trophy.

The competition is open to all regular league team players excluding those who normally play in the top two divisions, taking the form of a knockout competition, re-drawn each round.

Matches are the best of 3 frames in the early rounds progressing to the best of 5.

Players are required to contact each other to arrange their matches and to submit the results by a deadline date set for each round. Matches are played at the venue of the "first drawn" player except for the semi-finals and final which are scheduled to be played on a Sunday at a neutral venue.
