LEAGUE HISTORY

PRESENTATION NIGHTS

• Prior to 1984, Presentation Nights were typical of contemporary events, consisting of a dance with a live band. Events were held at various local venues, amongst which were Harrow British Legion Club, The Greenwood (Northolt) & Tithe Farm Club. These became less and less well attended to the point, in 1983, when the number of attendees barely outnumbered those in the band.

• The decision had to be (and was) taken to change the format, and starting in 1984 a professional was engaged to play a number of frames against Club nominated winners of our various competitions.

• Prior to 2005, this required the services of a table fitter to erect a Billiard table at the venue and to dismantle it the following morning.

• From 2005, the Fairview Club has made their premises available, with the match table being refitted with a new match cloth immediately prior to each event.

• Particular thanks are due to committee member Steve Russell for the hours of effort he has put in over the years organising these events.
